Painting and Decorating

Capital Training (SW) Ltd has designed this ten-day course to familiarise you with the tools and the methods used for general painting and wall hanging. You do not have to have any previous experience to do this training course as you will be taught from your capability level.

All aspects of your training will be provided in our purpose built new Painting and decorating department within the training centre; thus ensuring the standard of training given by our highly skilled instructors is of the highest quality and is equal to everyone, regardless of age, ability or gender.

The course covers;

· An introduction to the tools required for the job

· An introduction to powder and readymade fillers

· An introduction to water and oil based paints

· Wall and ceiling preparation

· How to cut in and roll walls and ceilings

· How to cut in and roll wall with different colours

· Learning what paints to use for different surfaces

· The preparation of woodwork

· Introduction to the painting of woodwork with oil based paints

· The preparation of walls ready for wallpaper hanging

· How to set out, match pattern and hang wallpaper

Throughout the course your instructor will provide you with many useful hints and tips of the trade. The instructor will also answer any questions you may have.

On completion of the course you will receive either a certificate of competence from Capital Training (SW) Ltd or OCN Accreditation. You will also receive helpful notes and tips on plastering complete with polygraphic evidence of the work that you have carried out whilst training. Throughout your training all tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated.

What do I need to bring?

All tools and equipment will be fully provided and demonstrated, you will need to wear safety boots for the duration of the course - you can either supply this yourself or purchase them from us at a cost of £15.
