French Polishing

Terry Silverton

01/06/2016
What I would highlight: The course was hands-on from the start all materials provided, Tutored by Matthew starting with different stains and making up 3 staining boards, each student was asked to bring along items of furniture to work on. We were shown how to strip and prepare the items using stopping to fill holes and repairs, staining with various water, spirit and oil stains to match the rest of the piece. We were shown the stages in French polishing from making a rubber and fad and how to use them,filling-in, fading colouring, coating and bodying. I would highly recommend this course to anyone starting out French polishing under the guidance of Matthew with his knowledge and helpfulness.
What could be improved: Nothing.
