Part P Full Scope Electrical Training

The Part P Full Scope Course is aimed at those whose main role is to undertake maintenance and full installation work on domestic electrical installations which may involve complete re-wires, the changing of consumer units or installation of complete ring mains etc.

The course consists of 4 days Theory and Practical based training, followed by one day of assessments. The assessments are both practical ‘hands on tasks’ and theory question papers.

Course Outline Practical Work Covered

The following items are installed, inspected and tested on Logic Work boards:

  • Installation of radial circuit
  • Installation of spur to Ring Final Circuit
  • Installation of additional lighting and control circuit
  • Initial Inspection and Verification of Electrical System
  • Visual Inspection for Fault identification on Electrical System
  • Visual Inspection for Fault Identification of Heating Systems
  • Identification of Electrical System Components

This is followed by hands on formation of Steel Wired Armoured (SWA) Cable Connections.

This course will provide the candidate with an overview of:

  • Part P Regulations
  • Basic Electrical Circuits
  • Installation Method identification
  • Safe Isolation
  • Testing Procedures
  • Completion of Minor works Certificate
  • Completion of Building Control Notification
  • Harmonisation of Cables
  • Voltage drop calculation
  • Special Locations
  • Three Phase System
  • SELV Circuits

Additional information

Career opportunities: Upon completion of the Full Scope Course the candidate can use the Part P Full Scope Logic Accreditation (together with Wiring Regulations) to support their application for registration for Part P Full Scope competent person status with a scheme provider (NICEIC, CORGI, ECA etc).
