The NOCN Diploma in Art & Design is a one year course designed for adults wishing to return to, or begin learning in the fine arts. You will study a broad range of Art & Design activities including fine art painting, sculpture using wood & metal, printmaking, Ceramics, Textiles & Photography. Course Description
The NOCN Diploma in Art & Design is a one year course designed for adults wishing to return to, or begin learning in the fine arts. You will study a broad range of Art & Design activities including fine art painting, sculpture using wood & metal, printmaking, Ceramics, Textiles & Photography. All activities will be underpinned by a core of drawing/visualisation skills.
Course Structure
The course consists of 12 units at level 2 and 15 units at level 3; both levels are taught together.
Assignments are set to explore various themes and lead up to a final major project at the end of the year.
The course is assessed continuously with critiques at the end of each 5 or 6 week project.
Course Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, but students are expected to be able to present a portfolio of art work for interview for the level 3 option.
Course Progression
Most learners will progress to university in a range of art & design areas, including fashion, photography, graphic design and fine art.
Course Career Prospects
Opportunities exist to enter the Creative Industries at a Junior Level but further study would be recommended to achieve employment in many job roles including product designer, artistic director, graphic designer, photographer and fashion technologist.
