There is no formal entry requirements for this course, however, applicants are required to demonstrate their ability to study at level 3. All applicants are interviewed and will require a current CRB check. Access to Higher Education programmes are funded by the Learning Skills Council only for students 19 years of age or over on 31 August preceding the commencement of study.

Summary
The aim of the course is to support progression to Higher Education for those who wish to teach in the sector, but who do not have the level of academic skills required. It will also enable students to reflect on both their specialist subject, their teaching practice and personal learning, and identify future development goals. Development of students' teaching, research and evaluation skills. Provide students with a sound knowledge and understanding of the principles of Teaching and Learning. The programme will also help candidates who lack the underpinning skills to undertake a level 3 professional development programme The target group for this programme are those mature students looking for a change of career who have extensive industry experience and who wish to contribute positively and intending to teach in the Lifelong learning sector.

Progression Routes
Foundation Degree in subject specific area of teaching and other Higher Education qualifications.

Students achieving 60 credits on the programme may be able to map to an endorsed PTLLS and CTLLS unit to achieve ATLS status via the Institute for Learning's Professional Formation. Validated by OCNER and QAA. This is a part time course and workshops will be held during the daytime, evening and some weekends.
