Course aims:
This is a one year intensive part-time course designed to prepare you for entry onto a higher education art and design courses.
You will have either completed the Preparation Year course (B0510) or be able to provide portfolio evidence that demonstrates a range of highly skilled and creative visual art work as well as the ability to generate and develop visual material or conceptual ideas.
You will develop a portfolio to a standard which should lead to university. The Foundation course has an excellent track record for placing students at prestigious universities and art colleges throughout the UK.
The course will provide you with the appropriate grounding to study in a specialist art and design field of your choice.
In addition to the ten hours per week of tutor contact, you will need to spend at least this amount of time in private study to create and produce work to the required standard.

Assessment: Ongoing assignments with a final major project and an end of year show at the end of the course.

Entry Requirements:
If you have completed the Part-time foundation exploratory year (B0510)successfully, you will automatically be offered a place on this course. If you are seeking direct entry from other courses or believe you have an extensive range of previous experience, you will be required to attend an interview. There are no formal academic qualification requirements, but sufficient evidence of highly developed skills and work must be evidenced through a portfolio of recent work shown at interview. Details of a preparatory Summer project will be sent out for you to work on prior to the start of the course.
A place will be offered to a student based on a portfolio of art work which demonstrates a range of highly skilled and creative visual art work as well as the ability to generate and develop visual/material or conceptual ideas. Your portfolio should demonstrate that you have covered the exploratory stage of a Foundation course and have a vocational direction to your portfolio, ie: Graphics, Illustration, Fine Art etc.

Home/EU students tuition fees (per year) : 650

If you are under 19 on 31st August 2009 you do not have to pay Tuition Fees, the College Registration, Awarding Body Registration or Exam/Assessment Fees. However, you will have to pay any Resource Fees. Under 19s entering Higher Education will have to pay full costs.
