Course Content

The AAT provides a qualification and a membership body for skilled staff employed in accounting practice, industry and commerce and the public sector. The course is intended to build confidence and competence by enabling students to acquire essential knowledge, skills and understanding of the accounting function.

Career Prospects and Progression

Successful completion of the qualification can lead to a career involved in the accounting function within private practice, industry and commerce or the public sector. Progression to the Intermediate stage of the qualification is possible on the achievement of the Foundation qualification.

Method of Assessment

Students are required to complete internally marked assessments for all units and one external examination.

Entry Requirements

Workplace experience of some aspect of the accountancy function or a desire to move into the accounting area. A reasonable level of education is necessary to complete this stage of the course.
