Assessment:
The NVQ level 2 is a flexible programme in which you build up a portfolio of evidence to prove your ability. You will be guided throughout the assessment process by your course assessor, who will discuss the requirements of the NVQ level 2 qualification with you and draw up an individual action plan for you to follow.
Academic Progression:
You may continue with your studies and undertake the NVQ level 3 Brickwork.
Full Description:
Apprenticeship Programme
If you are aged 16-25, you may be eligible to study for this qualification under the Modern Apprenticeship Training Scheme, which offers the following benefits:
- Paid employment in the bricklaying industry
- Quality off-the-job day release training
- Access to the full range of support and facilities open to all City College students
Regrettably, the School of Technology is unable to assist applicants in finding employers.
In bringing your evidence together, you will be expected to work largely in your own time and will attend college for tutorials and guidance. You will be required to provide evidence from your workplace across a broad range of brickwork tasks. In order to prove that this has been done you will build a portfolio. This logs the work you have completed and is signed by an approved person. An assessor from the college then assesses this work. It may be necessary to visit your workplace to confirm your evidence, which your assessor will arrange between you and your employer as appropriate.
Your achievement of the NVQ level 2 depends on your ability to meet the standards for brickwork as laid down by the construction industry. It is not possible to gain an NVQ in less than ten weeks with 18 months being the average for the NVQ level 2.
