Is this course right for me?

If you are working in the Carpentry trade and can demonstrate competence in the workplace, you will be best suited to this course.

This course is an NVQ ONLY - Site Carpentry

What will I be learning?

The units of study you will undertake are as follows: general workplace safety, efficient work practices, moving and handling resources, installing first fixing components, installing second fixing components and erecting structural carcassing components.

This course is aimed at people working within the Carpentry industry who wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification as evidence of their competence.

Your knowledge will also be broadened and assessed during this two-year programme.

How will I learn?

You will need to complete practical assignments, theoretical tests, a portfolio of work-based evidence and a Health and Safety test. A suitably experienced person at your place of work and a college work-based assessor will record your progress on site.

What else might I want to know?

You will need to provide your own protective clothing, footwear, textbooks and stationery. All other personal protective equipment will be provided.

What can I do afterwards?

On successful completion of the course you will be in a good position to progress on to a Level 3 Qualification.
