Career Prospects and Progression

Progression awards have been designed by City and Guilds to support government initiatives towards the National Qualifications Framework. They can contribute towards the knowledge and understanding required for the related NVQ while not requiring or proving evidence of occupational competence. It will lead to progression to level 2 of the award.

Modules

1. Developing self and working safely with others on engineering activities. 2. Selecting materials, moving loads and applying quality control procedures. 3. Fitting using hand skills. 4. Machining using engineering materials. 5. Joining ferrous metals by welding. 6. Wiring and testing electrical circuits. 7. Assembling and testing fluid power systems.* 8. Maintaining mechanical devices/systems.* 9. Producing engineering drawings using computer aided design.

Method of Assessment

1. Written tests 2. A range of assignments marked by Centre staff according to externally set criteria.
