Who is the programme for? This programme is for anyone who would like to gain a nationally recognised qualification in electrical and electronic engineering.
What will I study? There are a minimum of sixteen units to be studied on an HND programme, some of which are a follows. Those who have achieved an HNC will already have 10 units and therefore will need to study only six of the following: - Electrical and Electronic Principles* Electronics Programmable Logic Controllers Control systems and Automation Project* Electronic CAD Digital/Analogue Devices and Circuits Business management techniques* Analytical methods for Engineering* Engineering Science* Engineering Design* Health and Safety and Risk Assessment Quality Assurance and Management Electrical Power Further Electrical Power Project Management * = Core Modules
How is it assessed? All units are assessed by a selected combination of assignments, phase tests, laboratory work, classwork, case studies and formal end of session written examinations.
Future prospects? The HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering provides learners with the skills demanded by industry. During the programme, opportunities will be taken to visit local industry and University.
When will the programme start? The programme will start in September 2010
How long will it take? This is a one year part time top-up programme and requires attendance at College for one day and one evening per week, dependent upon modules already gained. Alternatively, it can be studied two evening per week for two academic years.
