The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification, which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer/IT skills. There are two parts to the ECDL qualification. This is the fastest growing IT user qualification. ECDL Essentials (Level 1) is designed to give an initial overview of computer use for the beginner or candidate. ECDL Extra (Level 2) is designed to give a more in depth knowledge and understanding of computer use.

Entry requirements
No previous qualifications are required for ECDL Essentials.

What will I study?
You will study: ECDL Essentials (Level 1). Module 1 Use IT Systems: Module 2 Operate a Computer: Module 7 Internet, Intranets & E Mail, Word Processing. ECDL Extra (Level 2) Module 3 Word Processing; Module 4 Spreadsheets; Module 5 Database; Module 6 Presentation and Unit E - Using IT.

How will I be assessed?
The ?Use IT Systems? unit is assessed using a multiple-choice test, which is externally marked by the British Computer Society. All other units will be assessed internally and through the on-line assessment.

Career Opportunities & Progression
On Successful completion of this course you could progress to the Advanced European Computer Driving Licence.
