First Aid At Work Re-Qualification Certificate
This course is designed for those who hold a First Aid at Work certificate that is due for renewal. It is also suitable for those who hold a current certificate but wish to update their first aid skills within the workplace and the legal framework. The course aims to enable candidates to understand the role of the first-aider in the workplace. It will offer the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge required for dealing with a range of injuries, and demonstrating how to deal with a range of major and minor illnesses.

Course Content:
The course will cover the following subjects:

  • Acting safely, promptly and effectively with emergencies at work
  • Using first aid equipment
  • Understanding the duties of employers and the legal framework
  • Maintaining simple records
  • Recognising the importance of personal hygiene
  • Dealing with a casualty who is unconscious, bleeding, suffering from shock or injury to bones, muscles or joints
  • Burns or scalds
  • Eye injuries
  • Gas and fumes
  • Poisons and harmful substances
  • Recognising major
  • /minor illnesses and managing the transport of a casualty

    Awarding body:
    This qualification is approved by the Health & Safety Executive
    Entry Requirements:
    Applicants must hold a current First Aid at Work certificate.

    Entry Process:
    There is no interview required.

    Assessment:
    In a final assessment candidates must demonstrate how to act safely on a casualty who requires cardiac pulmonary, resuscitation, is unconscious, bleeding or wounded.
