About this course

Open to persons over 18 years of age.
Entry requirements will be 2 A2 Levels or National Certificate/Diploma in Construction, good (GCSE A-C) Mathematics and English are recommended.
Please note that several years continuous employment in a construction related industry can also provide sufficient entry requirements.

HNC Building Studies/Construction

This part-time course is open to students from 18 years of age at the commencement of the course in the College academic year.
As a recognised qualification in the construction industry, it will allow progress to degree level higher education or employment progression.
It is a two-year course and will entail internal and external adjudication over coursework produced over the two years.

A total of 11 modular units are completed and attempted, all assignments submitted. 6 of the units are core units that we must achieve. At least five of the units must be at the Higher H2 level. 10 of the attempted units must reach at least a Pass grade.

Modules covered may include: Health, Safety and Welfare, Science and Materials, Analytic Methods,
Design Principles and Application, Building Technology, Construction Economics and Site
Surveying Procedures.

Attendance will be 1 day per week usually a Thursday at City Campus. The College also offer enrichment activities and courses, which can occur other days or evenings.
