The Institute of Leadership ? Management ILM is a nationally and internationally recognised body. This is a short, flexible programme which provides an introduction to the range of responsibilities of first line managers. This introductory course combines key elements of the full Certificate.

Career Prospects and Progression

Candidates who achieve the Introductory Certificate in First line Management may progress to the full Certificate in First Line Management or NVQ 3 Management.

Modules

Mandatory unit: Solving Problems and Making Decisions. Two optional units selected from an extensive list including: Planning Change in the Workplace, Building the Team, Motivating to perform in the Workplace, Organising and Delegating, Achieving objectives through Time Management, Effective Meetings for Managers

Method of Assessment

This course is assessed by delegates carrying out a work-based assignment and reflective or knowledge reviews.

40 guided learning hours excluding assessment, to be completed within 1 year

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants should be practising or potential first line managers with 2 years full-time or 3 years part-time work experience and a background which will enable them to benefit from the programme.
