This course is a skills-based programme designed to develop basic communication skills and enhance interactions with others. It will enhance candidates primary work role by acquiring competence across a range of counselling skills to become more effective at work where interaction with people occur.

Entry requirements
You must have experienced some training or experience in counselling skills, e.g. OCN or WJEC Introductory Certificate. Have reasonable Communication Skills both oral and written and be opened to views of others.

What will I study?
You will study: British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy; Health & Safety; Understanding at Basic Level, same concepts from the three main ?roots of counselling?: Developing & Maintaining the Helping Relationship; Endings and Transitions as an Integrative Aspect of the Helping Process; Counselling Skills & the application in roleplay settings, Personal development and self awareness, Counselling Skills in the Workplace and Bullying & Stress Related Issues.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via 2 Skills practical assessments, 2 Journals assessments and 1 Externally set examination.

Career Opportunities & Progression
This course will assist with entry into healthcare, social work, police, teaching and voluntary organisations.
