Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for those concerned about health and safety in care settings.Following completion of this course candidates should be able to understand the importance of health and safety in the healthcare sector, and the need to work safely within their organisation. They will develope a basic knowledge of their legal responsibilities and duties, and a practical understanding of key areas of concern in the healthcare sector, such as stress, violence and aggression, infection prevention and control, and hazardous substances.

This course is intended for all non-management clinical, non-clinical and support staff working within acute care, primary care, ambulance trusts, mental healthcare, nursing homes and hospices. Working safely will help staff understand the complex nature of their organisation and the risks facing them and patients. It looks at common hazards and provides advice on how to prevent or manage the various risks.

This comprehensive course covers current healthcare concerns while ensuring flexibility to allow organisations to introduce their own local requirements. It provides a grounding in the essentials of health and safety, everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must 'work safely' the outline syllabus is troduction-understanding reasons to work safely, improving safety performance, hazard and risk and workplace safety.
