Entry Requirements

Applicants must have at least
one GCE ‘A’ Level, or a National
Diploma/Certificate in Travel and
Tourism or Hospitality, or Level 3
BTEC Extended Diploma/Level 3
BTEC Diploma in Travel & Tourism or
Hospitality, or equivalent qualification,
including 4 GCSE’s at grade C or
above. Mature candidates with
relevant industrial experience
will be considered on merit.

Course Content

The course is made up of ten units – five core units and five specialist units. The specialist units will enable students to study particular areas in depth.

• Law and Ethics in the Travel and Tourism Industry

• Special Interest Tourism or Hospitality Management

Course Aims

This qualification aims to provide a detailed insight into a range of key travel and tourism sectors and functions and will aim to provide students with the necessary skills to work at management level within this industry. The qualification will provide students with a direct progression route into employment or to study at degree level or equivalent.

Students are assessed internally on an ongoing basis by a variety of methods including assignments.

Progression Routes

A key progression route for Level 4
BTEC Higher National Certificate
learners is to a HND/Foundation
Degree in Travel and Tourism
Management or to the second or third
year of a degree or honours degree
programme within the same or
similar subject area. Alternatively,
successful candidates can enter into
employment within the industry.
