The course covers units in Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics. An A Level is made up of six units, four of which are Pure while the other two are Mechanics or Statistics. Students are advised which combination best suits them based on their other subjects and career needs. Students demonstrating a special aptitude for the subject and a wish to apply to universities such as Oxbridge.
About this course
Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C. Ideally students wishing to study A Level Maths should have followed the higher tier syllabus at GCSE and gained a minimum of grade B. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty.

Course Features
Designed to give a thorough basic training in the core disciplines of Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry and Analytical Geometry
Syllabus links well with that for A Level Physics.

The course is vastly different from GCSE in terms of the level of difficulty and the amount of work covered.
The most crucial part of GCSE work needed for A level success is a very high standard of ability in Algebra.
