The BTEC National Award is a 1-year practical work related course introducing the skills needed to work as a makeup artist for Film / TV. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will be designing and producing the makeup and hair for particular characters in productions. Working on ?live? theatrical productions enables you to produce work towards a professional portfolio. It is the equivalent of one A level.

Entry requirements
You must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course. You will normally need to have at least one of the following: A BTEC First Diploma in a related subject; at least 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C.

What will I study?
The course is made up of 6 units, Units include: Production Workshop; Production Planning; Make-up and Hair Design for Performers; Special Effects Make-up; Period Make-up.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a number of practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated with an overall grading for the qualification awarded.
