Course Content

This course provides a platform for a student to gain the construction industry's basic qualification in decorative finishing and industrial painting. The NVQ is a measure of an individual's capability to carry out a range of work to performance criteria which have been agreed by industry.

Course Features

Accessible to anyone irrespective of age or previous training subject to statutory regulations and legal requirements, e.g. some tasks can only be performed by individuals above a minimum age.

Provides a wide range of skills.

Offers progression to other qualifications, including management, in the construction industry.
Career Prospects and Progression

Continued employment in the Construction Industry and progression onto Level 3.

- Conform to general workplace safety - Conform to efficient work practices - Move and handle resources - Erect and dismantle access/working platforms - Prepare surfaces fro painting/decorating - Apply paint systems by brush and roller

Method of Assessment

Each unit is assessed via the production of relevant industrial workbased evidence, the completion of unit knowledge questions and a Health and Safety Test via computerised testing.

Course Length

Approximately two years in length depending on the gathering of relevant site evidence and college attendance (usually one day per week)
