PATHWAYS - Entry 3 Horticulture

Course Aims:
To support the development of both personal and practical learner skills and knowledge in a vocational area providing the opportunity to move into further learning and training

Course Content:
The course is made up of a number of individual units.

Three units are linked to personal and social development and are:
*Undertaking an Enterprise Project - Includes all aspects from planning and advertising to selling a product
*Healthy Lifestyles - including diet and fitness
*Developing Personal Confidence and Self Awareness - including strengths, weaknesses and setting personal goals

The other units include a variety of practical skills to introduce and develop horticultural skills and knowledge. These units include propagation of plants, garden maintenance skills and using and maintaining garden tools.

Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT are also included at the appropriate individual level

Progression:
Level one Horticulture or other level one programmes

Awarding Body:
National Open College Network (NOCN)

Exam:
Portfolio of evidence that is internally marked and externally verified

Qualification:
NOCN Diploma in Skills Towards Enabling Progression (Step-UP)

Level:
Entry Level 3

Notes:

Boots and a coat will be required as parts of the course are based outdoors

Duration:
1 year over 3 or 4 days a week
