Course programme

During the course you will:

  • learn to take measurements correctly
  • produce a basic body block
  • produce an initial pattern from your own basic block
  • practice lay-planning
  • practice fabric marking and cutting techniques
  • assemble a toile
  • conduct a working fitting followed by block and pattern adjustments
  • complete a one-piece sleeve block
  • learn sleeve insertion techniques
  • complete dart movement exercises.

Depending on your own individual progress you may potentially:

  • make your fitted and adjusted garment in a top fabric of your own choice
  • create a second set of patterns based on your own design
  • look at how to adapt a commercial pattern.
