Course programme
If you have found yourself excited by costume in theatre, film, opera, musicals or dance, and longed to be involved in the creation of memorable and exciting images through costume, then this programme is for you.
Giving you the ideal opportunity to explore and extend your design work into new territory, you will develop a personal design project, building a self-reflective, creative and intellectual approach to designing costume for performance, text and character.
You will extend your knowledge through research and drawing, pattern cutting and costume making, taking your design and technical skills to a professional level, and developing a flexible and confident approach to contemporary working practices within costume design.

You’ll be ideally placed to study the interaction between costume and the other arts, such as fashion, textiles, jewellery, film, animation, illustration, installation and dance, and to take part in collaborations across the College.
You’ll be supported by academic staff and practitioners from the world of costume design. All will have specialist skills which will add to the range of your knowledge.
During your studies, you’ll also have the chance to attend guest lectures from a range of inspirational creative practitioners.
