This course is for you if you wish to gain a level 3 qualification in Performing Arts.

What are the entry requirements?
You need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including drama, expressive arts or dance. Induction is taken very seriously at this College. You will follow a five week induction programme where your suitability for the level and type of programme you are hoping to be on will be assessed. Successful completion of the induction period will confirm your place on a course.
After applying you will have an interview to determine which course is suitable for your needs and abilities.
  • Minimum Literacy Level: Entry 2

  • You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
  • Minimum Numeracy Level: Entry 2

  • You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.


What qualification will I receive?
BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (Performance).

Where can it lead?
You could go on to higher education, training or degree courses in drama, theatre studies or performing arts. Most students go on to leading theatre schools and universities such as RADA, Drama Centre, London Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, Manchester Metropolitan School of Theatre, Goldsmiths College and Middlesex University.

What will I study?
Most of the course is practically based and students acquire a range of performance skills through regular classes in voice, movement, devising, acting and improvisation. There are continual opportunities to gain experience of public performing either in the College's Theatre, or in community or theatre-in-education tours. You will also gain experience and understanding of the performing arts industries through project work and develop your critical and analytical skills in a range of written assignments.

How will I be taught?
The course is practically based, delivered over two years with regular classes, project work and a range of written assignments.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and you will be continually updated on your progress.

What support is available while I am on the course?
You will be supported by a personal tutor, specialist lecturers and have specialist technical support throughout the course. The College offers a comprehensive range of student services including language support and guidance.
