Course programme
You will study different aspects of dance, including contemporary dance, ballet, jazz, choreography, physical theatre, movement, performing arts in context, and the performing arts business.
The course also covers the history of dance and the performing arts industry. Dance performance is a major part of the course, with the chance to perform in the College theatre and at a range of external venues.
- 4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C including English language, or
- BTEC Level 2 Diploma with Merit or Distinction and functional skills Level 2
- For international students, equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered and you will need IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each skill), or equivalent.
- You need to demonstrate your skills and potential in dance through an audition.
You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and giving presentations. Practical assessment will include some public performances but also in-class presentation and workshop assessment.
You will achieve a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) - equivalent to 3 A Levels. Following the course, you can progress to the College's Foundation Degree in Dance, which focuses on African, Caribbean, urban and contemporary dance.
You can also go on to study at institutions such as Laban Centre, London Studio Centre, Middlesex, Roehampton, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and LIPA.
