Personal Confidence & Assertiveness at Work

This course enables delegates to increase their interpersonal confidence and appropriate assertiveness within the context of caring and enabling others.

  • Increased Confidence For Making Yourself Heard: Delegates will develop the confidence as the skill to 'make themselves heard' whilst avoiding aggressive or unfair behaviour. As a result delegates can expect to be "taken more seriously" and attended to.
Increased Confidence For Dealing With Confrontation: The course develops delegates' confidence for dealing with confrontation situations - whether with colleagues or clients. Areas covered (amongst others) include both the delivery of 'unpopular' news or saying ‘No'.
  • Increased Confidence With Overbearing Colleagues and Complaints: Overbearing colleagues (often from other professions or agencies) along with complaining family members or service users are often a source of potential conflict. Fielding these professionally and confidently is a skill directly addressed during the day.
  • Dealing With Worry And Guilt: Knowing how to be more assertive and confident is often not enough. At a ‘head level' we understand that these are ‘good things.' However, we often feel uncomfortable with the idea of "doing" them. Hence such negative thoughts and feelings often get in the way. The course directly addresses this issue by providing delegates with a range of strategies for managing worry and guilt as well as resolving them.

Course Feedback

"An enjoyable, stimulating and informative day which provided much food for thought." M.H., Senior S.W., Yorkshire

"After this workshop I felt I had to put things I'd learnt into practice. I dressed in my best clothes and went to see my manager about a promotion. As a result I got it. I genuinely believe I would never have been successful without this training. Thank you." C.F., Session Leader, Suffolk
