History

The Skills Development Service Ltd was established in 1990 to provide evidence-based, relevant and engaging training of the highest quality to health, social care, education and counselling professionals. We specialise in psychotherapy training, counselling training, and general psychological skills training as it applies to helping others, as well as to personal and managerial development. We have trained tens of thousands of staff since our inception. Our primary aim is to provide you with gold-standard training — informed, exciting and packed with practical ideas, skills and tips addressing your everyday work problems. All our seminar presenters are exceptionally well qualified and have extensive experience of working in public sector service organisations such as local authorities and the NHS Trusts. They are renowned for their excellent teaching skills and can present complex ideas in simple and easily comprehensible ways.

All our training events provide live or video demonstrations of techniques. We strongly believe that observational learning is one of the most powerful and effective learning styles available. Within our workshops, our trainers encourage delegates to practise techniques in group and pair exercises during the course of the day. We will provide you with quality seminar materials on a free CD including photocopiable worksheets, checklists and forms to use with your clients. You won't have to travel far to our seminars. Our seminar topics are run from up to 11 different venues around the UK during the course of the year. If you wish to provide training to a large number of your staff, please get details of our in-house packages. We know about your financial constraints and their impact on training. That's why we price our courses to make them as accessible as possible. We offer discounts for block bookings and a variety of special promotions for returning customers.

The Skills Development Service Ltd is a national training organisation of long standing delivering high-quality training in health, social services, education and counselling for over 18 years. We focus on psychological skills training as it applies to helping others, as well as to personal and managerial development.SDS Ltd offers a wide range of training topics on motivation, anger management, brief solution focused therapy, self esteem, personal assertiveness, effective group work, working with personality disorders and difficult people along with many other subjects relevant to everyday practice.We provide training throughout the UK to between 6,000 and 10,000 delegates a year. Our courses are available as open courses (seminars and workshops) and as in-house training.Our training is informed, evidence-based, very practically focused and always delivered in an engaging way which leads to excellent evaluation and delegate feedback.
