A highly practical personal development programme (NQF Level 4) designed to provide subject (non language) teachers in international and English speaking schools with the additional basic skills needed to build on existing knowledge and understanding and to focus on the specific requirements of students learning in a second (or third) language. It can be upgraded to a full TESOL qualification at a later date.

A short TESOL awareness course are aimed at subject (non language) teachers working in English speaking or international schools and for teachers working in the CLIL project. They will also be of interest to anyone wishing to achieve accredited certification for personal development in education generally

This CoT 80 hour course is the third of our Generic Short Courses and is aimed at those teachers who are looking for a comprehensive introduction to the teaching of English as a foreign language and, at a later date, may wish to build on it to attain higher certification in TESOL itself.
Trainees are required to maintain a personal study portfolio to record achievements and to identify areas as "room for growth" that can be discussed with your personal tutor for later development.
This programme consists of 11 modules:
- Language Awareness 1,2 and 3 (including a pre-course global grammar overview)
- The Sounds of English 1,2 and 3
- The Practice of TESOL 1,2 and 3
- Lesson Planning 1 and 2
- A final response (3000 words) that compares and evaluates 2 theoretical views in a practical application (on at least one occasion) that reflects experience.
TOTAL 80 hours
Tasks. Answer all assessed worksheet assignments and complete the final task. Return to personal tutor for grading and feedback. On course completion individual grades are added together and divided by 5 to give the overall grade for the course.
