This course will allow anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol to gain and hold a Personal License. This Level 2 National Certificate for Personal License Holders (NCPLH) qualification enables successful delegates to apply for a Personal License. This course offers delegates detailed understanding of the current licensing laws and objectives. Suitable for: BIIAB NATIONAL CERTIFICATE FOR PERSONAL LICENCE HOLDERS This qualification is nationally recognised and is designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises including pubs and bars, hotels and restaurants, off-licences, supermarkets and convenience stores, sports and social clubs, nightclubs, entertainment establishments and any other venue or site where alcohol is sold.

The new licencing laws in England and Wales are that anyone authorising the sale of alcohol to the public must hold a personla licence. Whether you intend to / work in a pub, restaurant, supermarket, club, off licence etc this is a legal requirement. To obtain a personal licence a short course must be complted to gain your BBIAB NCPLH qualification.

MAS is currently offering a one day course covering all aspects of the syllabus required:

The course description covering the law in relation to the personal licence includes:

  1. The roles, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities within the framework of the licensing objectives
  2. the application process for a personal licence
  3. the role and legal responsibilities of the personal licence holder, and the penalties relating to failure to comply with the law the premises licence
  4. the content and purpose of operating schedules
  5. the role and duties of the designated premises supervisor
  6. unauthorised licensable activities
  7. permitted temporary licensable activities
  8. rights of entry to licensed premises

    police powers with regard to suspension and closure of licensed premises

  9. the specific prohibitions for the sale of alcohol

  10. the strengths of alcoholic drinks, and the effects of alcohol on the human body
  11. the protection of children from harm

  12. the responsible retail sale of alcohol

Upon completion of the course, clients are expected to sit a short 40 question multiple choice exam.
