Personal Protective Equipment Regulations

The aim of the course is to provide candidates with knowledge, understanding and requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992.

Course Objectives

The definition of PPE is:

“anything that can be held or worn by an individual to protect against a single or a number of dangers in the workplace”.

This course is designed to allow delegates to gain a greater understanding of relevant legislation, as well as suitability of personl protective equipment. Also delegates will appreciate that PPE is a very important element in the control of workplace hazards and the hierarchy of controls will be discussed

On completion of the course delegates will be aware of:

• What and who PPE applies to.
• HASWA 1974 and other relevant legislation.
• PPE as a “last resort”.
• Provision, Maintenance and Replacement.
• Quality and Compatibility of PPE.
• Assessment and Selection.
• Storage, Information, Instruction and Training.
• Types of Protection:

• Eye
• Foot
• Hand and Respiratory
