Course members will be able to: Develop knowledge covering the requirements of current legislation. Apply pesticides safely and efficiently with a field crop sprayer fitted with rotary atomisers or hydraulic nozzles. Identify and select appropriate nozzels, carry out machine preparation and calibration. Operate the equipment in compliance with current legislation and codes of practice. Clean equipment, and dispose of unwanted pesticides and containers. Identify and rectify faults and recognise conditions when spraying is inadvisable.

Legislation requires that people using pesticides must have recieved adequate instruction and in certain circumstances must undergo assessment and acquire a certificate of competence.

This course is designed to comply with the code of practice specifying the knowledge and skills required of a competent operator.
