About this course

Upon completing this course you will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and will gain 90 credits at Master's level. This allows you to fast-track to stage two of CTE’s Master's degree, quickly progressing your professional development.

Career progression may be through taking responsibility for coordinating an area of the curriculum or leading a Key Stage, with next steps being a senior management role.

Course programme

Core Modules:

There are three modules* to the course which are designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills you will need to pursue a successful teaching career:
  • Subject Studies - looks at all aspects of how to teach your subject, including planning, teaching, assessment and class management.
  • Reflective Practice - has been introduced to add depth and breadth to your professional development by supplementing the practical, school-based components of your training. In all respects, the programme is intended to complement the school experience.
  • Professional Practice - placements provide opportunities for observation, practice and investigation in a wide variety of our partnership schools.
Placements for University-led (Core)

This route has two extended placements in contrasting settings Secondary settings and a five day placement in a Primary school.

Placements for School-led (School Direct Training & Salaried)This route offers trainees an extended placement in one main Secondary school (called a Base School), supplemented by an additional shorter placement in a contrasting Secondary school, plus a five day placement in a Primary school.
