You will study and successfully pass the following five modules, in order to achieve the PgDip Psychosocial Interventions for Psychosis:
PgDip (120 credits at Level 7):
Assessment and Case Formulation L7 – 20 credits
Family Intervention L7 – 20 credits
Medication Management and Physical Wellbeing L7 – 20 credits
Evidence Based Psychosocial interventions for Psychosis L7 OR Brief Interventions in Acute Mental health Care L7 – 20 credits
Practice Based Innovation Project L7 - 40 credits

What will I learn in each of the Psychosocial Intervention Modules and how will this enhance my practice?
Assessment and Case Formulation L7

This module will equip you with the knowledge, skills and competence to:
Assess service users in a systematic and holistic manner including their strengths, hopes, goals and aspirations
Develop a collaborative case formulation with service users
Underpin the process of assessment and case formulation with a recovery focused approach
Family Intervention L7

This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
Use assessment tools and develop a working case formulation of strengths and needs with a service user and their family
Deliver and evaluate family intervention in practice with a service user and their family/carers
Examine the evidence base for family interventions
Evaluate and reflect on your own practice using a self-rating tool
Medication Management and Physical Well Being L7

This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
Assess the physical health of a service user with mental illness
Assess the medication management needs of a service user with mental illness
Review the assessment outcomes and draw together salient themes into a working case conceptualisation in collaboration with a service user
Deliver a range of evidenced based interventions to promote medication management and physical wellbeing
Evidence Based Psychosocial Interventions for Psychosis L7

This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
Understand the impact of a mental health problem and diagnosis on service user
Develop an evidence based plan of interventions for common psychotic symptoms and related phenomena and distress, in collaboration with a service user, using validated assessment tools, case formulation and outcome measures
Treat clients with complex presentations and co-morbid conditions using appropriate interventions and strategies
Examine the evidence-base underpinning psychosocial intervention models for psychosis
Brief Interventions in Acute Mental Health Care L7
Assess clients in acute mental distress and collaboratively plan care
Deliver and evaluate a range of evidence-based brief interventions to clients with a range of acute mental health problems
Practice Based Innovation Project L7

This module will equip you with the knowledge and skills to:
Undertake a service development project focusing on evidence based psychosocial interventions, appropriate to your own clinical setting/area
Evaluate your clinical area through engagement with the major stakeholders
Reflect on your leadership and change management skills
Assessment Methods:

We use a variety of methods to promote the development of your clinical skills and competence. These include:

- audio recording of a clinical session with a service user
- case studies
- presentations
- reflective account
- integration project
Clinical Supervision

As psychosocial intervention training involves active learning through implementing the tools, skills and knowledge in your clinical setting, you will have a designated PSI clinical supervisor based in your workplace, for the duration of the module/course. The module tutors, in liaison with your employer, will assist in identifying a supervisor.
