Entry requirements & how to apply
Minimum UK requirements 2:1 A medical degree (such as an MBBS) or a 2:1 first degree in a biomedical science, pharmacy, medicine or related subject or, in chemistry if the course includes sufficient biological support.

Application procedure
Applications must be made online using King’s online application portal apply.kcl.ac.uk and a non-refundable application fee of £60 applies. You will be admitted on the basis of your academic ability together with recommendations from academic referees.
Personal statement and supporting information
You will be asked to submit the following documents in order for your application to be considered:
Personal Statement Yes A personal statement of up to 4,000 characters (maximum 2 pages) is required
Previous Academic Study Yes A copy (or copies) of your official academic transcript(s), showing the subjects studied and marks obtained. If you have already completed your degree, copies of your official degree certificate will also be required. Applicants with academic documents issued in a language other than English, will need to submit both the original and official translation of their documents.
References Yes One reference is required, professional references will be accepted if you have completed your qualifications over five years ago.
Other Optional You may wish to include a CV (Resume) or evidence of professional registration as part of your application.

Course programme
Course detail Description
The taught component of the course includes a compulsory lecture-based module in which you will study systems and cellular pharmacology, which is complemented by a lab-based practical module. You will also undertake projects to develop your critical thinking and research skills, such as a literature research module, a research design module and a lab-based practical research project.
On the MSc you will take 180 credits including a 60 credit research project.
On the MRes you will take 240 credits, the additional credits coming from an extended experimental research project, which will enable you to pursue an area of your own interest to a high level and to prepare for possible future research.

Teaching
You will have 20 hours of contact each week with our academic staff and we will expect you to complement this with 20 hours of self-study a week.
Typically, one credit equates to 10 hours of work.
Assessment
We will assess you through a combination of coursework, exams and practicals.

Location
This course is primarily taught at the King’s College London Guy’s campus, but will require attending some project work at Waterloo campus and possibly other campuses. Please note that locations are determined by where each module is taught and may vary.

Year 1
Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take:

- MRes – modules totalling 240 credits.
