The course build on skills that you have learned in your workplace. Successful completion of this course combined with an NVQ level 3 and 28 hours per week work experience over two years, allow the student to register with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Who is this course for? This course is for any persons working in a pharmacy occupation wanting to study a vocational pharmacy qualification. They would be working in hospitals, the community or industrial pharmacies.

What do I need to get on the course? You will ideally be ideally be working in a pharmacy occupation studying an NVQ level 3 qualification in their place of work. You should have good communication skills - a grade A-C in GCSE English.

What will I study? You will study a series of 12 units over the two years of the course. These units will contain plenty of practical work conducted in a well equipped laboratory, case study situations related to the effects of medicines and drugs upon the body, a study of the pharmacy industry and how medicines are dispensed and manufactured, a consideration of the legal aspects and ethics of practise and a study of the workings of the human body as related to pharmacy.
The course would be delivered by Pharmacy specialists and general science lecturers. ,

What qualification will I get? BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy Services. If you pass the course, are studying an NVQ level 3 at your workplace and are undertaking work in a pharmacy (under the supervision of a pharmacist) for at least 28 hours per week then you will be eligible to join the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

What can I do after the course? The course provides the skills and knowledge needed for a career in pharmacy and pharmaceutical science. This course provides vocational training and would probably be the basis of further progression in a career based within a pharmacy occupation.,
