Course programme
A photography course for people who may be new to photography or new to London. During this week long course your classroom will be a combination of lectures and crits at the Kings Cross campus and photographing practical projects with your tutor ‘in the field’ at various London destinations.
Topics covered
Each day is designed to get students out to see London and pair a specific camera mode with a photographic project. Gradually you will move from auto and semi-automatic modes to graduating to a full understanding of the manual mode and camera operation.
Students will have one project per day that will not only progress the practice of camera mechanics and exposure creation but also serve as tasters in the genres of urban/street, advertising , editorial. architectural, travel, and art photography.
There will also be an introduction and practice of photo-editing and presentation skill development as each project brief will have this built into the post-mortem of the photographic shoot.
This course will not include any darkroom practice, so students are asked to budget for their own developing costs, as well as a travel card to cover visits around London.
On the first day students are asked to bring in ten examples of past snapshot photographs in print form (mistakes encouraged) for discussion and critique.
This is a very popular class and has been featured in Russian MIR magazine - see http://karlgrupe.com/blog/?p=1363
Entry requirements: None
Please note: This course is for students aged 18 and older
