Course programme

As this is a part-time, work-based programme, it enables you to gain a qualification whilst continuing to work. Learning takes place both in the workplace (10 hours per week) and at University (30 days per academic year). You will study the following modules each year: Year 1 (Level 4, 120 credits) Physical Education and Physical Activity Teaching and Coaching across the Curriculum Fundamental Movement and Activity for Physical Development Learning in Physical Education and School Sport Foundations of Sport and Physical Activity for Health Leading and Managing Physical Education and School Sport Year 2 (Level 5, 120 credits) Pedagogical Models for Games Pedagogical Models for Physical Activity and Health Assessment in Physical Education and School Sport Inclusion and Adapted Physical Activities Coaching in School and the Community Physical Education and School Sport Project. The course includes practical performance across a series of modules. The award of the ASA Certificate for Teaching School Swimming KS1-2 is embedded in one of the modules and you will also have access to many other teaching and coaching awards. University taught days will take place at our Canterbury Campus.
