Physics is playing an important part in the development of telecommunications, medical diagnosis, laser surgery, aircraft design and in countless other applications, both in industry and the home.

An understanding of the concepts of Physics leads some way to understanding the nature of life itself. Physics is the 'glue' which holds the sciences together. The course has a practical content and students are expected to carry out investigations and report upon them. We are continually increasing the amount of computer interfacing in the laboratory. Lectures are backed up by demonstrations and computer simulations

Entry RequirementsStudents need to have achieved 5 GCSE's or more.

Course Content
AS Level consists of three units:
·Unit 1:Particle, Quantum Phenomena and Electricity
·Unit 2:Mechanics, Materials and Waves
·Unit 3:Investigative and Practical Skills.

How will I be assessed?
Unit 1:1 hour 15 minute exam, contributing 40% of the total AS marks.
Unit 2:1 hour 15mins exam, contributing 40% of the total AS marks.
Unit 3:Internally assessed, contributing 20% of the total AS marks.
