PHYSICS

Who is this course for?

You are required to have attained at least a Grade C in GCSE Physics or in Double Award Science. Previous study of Additional Mathematics or Technology and taking a parallel course in 'A' Level Mathematics is extremely desirable.

How long is this course for?

'AS' Level - 1 year, 5 hours per week
'A' Level - 2 years, 5 hours per week.

What will I study?
'AS' Level comprises three modules:
  • Forces, Energy and Electricity - 37% of AS Level
  • Waves and Photons and Medical Physics - 37% of AS Level
  • Practical Techniques - 26% of AS Level

'A' Level requires three further modules to be studied to a higher level:
  • Momentum, Thermal Physics, Circular Motion, Oscillations and Atomic and Nuclear Physics - 18.5% of 'A' Level
  • Fields and their Applications - 18.5% of 'A' Level
  • Practical Techniques - 13% of 'A' Level

How will I be assessed?
'AS' Level - two modular examinations, each 1 hour 30 minutes, and one practical.

'A' Level - two further modular examinations, each 1 hour 30 minutes, and one further practical.
