Our one-year intercalated Physiology BSc will give you the opportunity to explore the field of physiology, learning from world-renowned experts in a range of research fields, including cardiovascular biology, endocrinology, human physiology and regenerative medicine. There is a strong emphasis on understanding the pathophysiology of disease processes such as asthma, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Course programme
Courses are divided into modules. This is a one year course. You will take modules totalling 120 credits.
Required ModulesYou are required to take one of the following modules:
- Research Project in Physiology (45 credits)
- Project Design in Physiology (30 credits)
- Physiology Year 3 Library Project (15 credits)
Take sufficient credits to bring your total for the year to 120. This must include a minimum of 75 credits in Physiology modules (including the project module), chosen from a range of optional modules which may typically include:
- Cell Physiology (15 credits)
- Muscle (15 credits)
- Reproductive Physiology (15 credits)
- Neuroendocrinology (15 credits)
- Vascular Physiology (30 credits)
- Cardiovascular & Respiratory Control (30 credits)
- Biology of Lung Disease (15 credits)
- Extreme Physiology (30 credits)
- Endocrinology of Diabetes (15 credits)
- Introduction to Stem Cells (15 credits) – this is a level 5 module
- Introduction to Regenerative Medicine (15 credits) – Introduction to Stem Cells is a pre-requisite for this module.
You may also take a language module.
Please note that some modules with a high practical component are capped, which means that we cannot guarantee a place to all students who select that particular module.
