On demand at the uke learning premises to suit employer and employee needs. The programme operates on a roll on / roll off basis with an average waiting time of 2 weeks.
Programme Content
The programme is unit based and candidates must complete nine practical units in total to successfully complete the qualification. There are seven mandatory units and candidates must choose an additional two units from a wide variety of available optional units to reflect their own work experience and customer service needs.
Mandatory Units
• Repairing a patch in a plastered wall
• Boarding and setting a ceiling in one coat
• Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
• Applying and finishing the setting coat to a floored wall and attached pier
• Scrim and skim finish with plaster
• Applying a floating coat to a square or rectangular column
• Applying a floating finishing coat to a square or rectangular column
Optional Units
• Screeding a sand and cement floor from a given level or datum point
• Introduction to fixing floor tiles and skirting tiles
• Applying a textured finish with border
• Replaster over a textured ceiling using bonding agent
• Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
• Applying a Tyrolean hand machine finish to a prepared wall
• Fixing bellcast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas
• Applying pebbledash finish to a prepared wall
Assessment Process
Candidates will be assessed on finished assignments and will be required to keep a standard assessment log to record progress of units achieved / completed.
The underpinning knowledge included in each unit is assessed by a multi-choice question on-line test, assisting those candidates who wish to progress to higher level construction qualifications
Length of Programme
We support learners and set standards to enable participants to achieve targets and personal goals at an agreed pace. All learners are supported by a dedicated uke learning assessor who provides advice, guidance and support throughout the duration of the programme.
