Course programme
Play involves spontaneity, imagination, freedom, social interaction, openness to sensory experiences - hardly surprising therefore, that many people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder find play activities and playful interactions puzzling, difficult, threatening or irrelevant. This workshop is for anyone who wants to help a person with ASD increase their play skills and develop playfulness.
Find out:
- About play types and their importance
- Different ways of observing and recording play behaviours
- How it feels to have ASD
Outcomes of the course:
- A practical understanding of the importance of play and the way our play values may challenge people with ASD
- An understanding of the ways in which sensory responses and perceptual difficulties may affect the person's ability to access play
- Practical ideas for strategies and materials to engage people with ASD in play
- An action plan to help an individual to access and enjoy play
Cost of course:
£185 + Vat, 2nd & subsequent places on same course £165 + Vat
