Description of the Course
The NVQ Care programme has been primarily designed for people who are in a supervisory position working in care settings for children and young people up to the age of 19. All participants will have their own assessor to guide them through the qualification, carry out assessments in the workplace and help them build a portfolio of work related evidence. A high degree of flexibility has been built into the scheme so that participants are able to choose assessment times that suits their particular needs.
Course content
Candidates are required to complete the following 4 mandatory units:

· Promote effective communication for and about individuals
· Promote, monitor and maintain Health and Safety and security in the working environment
· Reflect on and develop your practice
· Promote the well-being and protection of children and young people

Together with 4 optional units.

Assessment
Candidates must produce a portfolio of work related evidence to achieve the qualification.
Who is the course for?
Anyone working in a supervisory role in the Care setting for children and young people up to the age of 19, to include foster carers
Entry requirements
Supervisory role in the Care sector of Children and Young People. You will be asked to demonstrate your skills and commitment at an interview.
