Course programme
This course, comprising a 25 week structured programme provides students with the opportunity to build a portfolio of their work for presentation for entry to College of Degree level Art and Design courses.
The course is also open to students who are interested in a vocational future within the visual arts or other related areas who would need a portfolio as part of the application process. The course will provide practical teaching in drawing and painting the human figure, built environment and natural forms using a variety of media and techniques.
Most activities will be studio based. However, to encourage sketchbook work out of doors, students will also undertake drawing sessions at SS Discovery and Dundee Botanic Gardens. So that students can become familiar with contemporary art practice we will visit exhibitions in the Art College and at Dundee Contemporary Arts. Advice will be given on the research and development of visual ideas in sketch books and the selection and presentation of work done during the course to be included in portfolios for Art College application.
