The course is designed to promote the development of the general management skills and abilities required in a rapidly changing economic environment, both by individuals, already operating in, or those seeking to take up supervisory and managerial roles. The course will develop the skills of analysis, problem solving and proactive thinking. It will provide the underpinning knowledge and understanding required to operate effectively in a managerial role.
Students are supported via the Virtual Learning Environment accessing their modules on the Blackboard site and availing of current journals and e-books as well as podcasts and other supporting resources. Onsite students can make appointments with librarians for specific search support or attend speaker's evenings or study skills ribbon workshops. Each student has a personal tutor and we also provide additional support for dyslexic and disabled students.
Studying the above programmes will give opportunities to gain immediately applicable skills and managerial awareness; whilst learning about other organisations' processes and practices from peers and case study analysis.
Students who successfully complete the programme become members of the professional body, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Human Resource Management
You will develop the abilities to carry out the Human Resource Management (HRM) element of your role and work effectively with HR specialists. You will explore different approaches to the management of human resources and the implications for organisational success.
Managing Operations, Information and Knowledge
This module is all about running the organisation more effectively and efficiently, by exploiting internal and external information.
Marketing for Managers
This module provides you with a grounding in the knowledge, theory and practice of marketing as applied by managers in organisational situations. It's focused on the development of effective market-oriented managerial thinking.
Managers and Organisations*
*Managers and Organisations has the weekend residential attached to the module. All students must attend, regardless of when they take the module. It will be run in November and is compulsory.
