Course content
A basic pottery course on which you will learn about different techniques. You will work from your own ideas and designs in a friendly learning atmosphere. You will also get the chance to have a say what projects the group will work on.
What will students learn?
You will learn about some, if not all, of the following: pinch pots, coiling, hard slab building, soft slab building, modelling, clay decoration and glazing.
You will work mostly with earthenware clay, though there is the opportunity to use stoneware.
Teaching
We start the session as a group in the College café, giving you the chance to socialise and meet new people. Anyone new will be introduced to the group. We will also use this time to have any group discussions. This will give you the chance to tell us about what you would like to make. You will also be encouraged to communicate about what you have been making.
We will then go to the studio where you will do your own work. You will be aided by a tutor, an LSA and possibly by at least one volunteer.
