Course ContentWithin a friendly relaxed no-pressure atmosphere this Pottery/Ceramics course combines learning the Traditional Hand building techniques of pinch, slab and coil, which includes modelling/sculpting, with pot decoration. This enables students to make a broad variety of hand-built forms, alongside applying different complimentary decorating techniques.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
Develop a creative and personal approach to working with clay.
You can expect to gain good knowledge and experience of hand-built construction techniques.
Develop knowledge of decorative techniques. For example: how to use slips, oxides and other colourant with glaze to achieve and create a variety of effects, surface treatments and finishes.
Understand and observe correct studio practice and follow Health and Safety rules.
Entry Requirements
refine skills and techniques in greater depth while pursuing either an agreed personal line of study or following the tutor offered projects.
