This course is a practical introduction / improvers workshop to birdwatching. It includes a classroom session which covers a combination of practical field skills and natural history knowledge. The classroom session is followed by three fieldtrips to practice spotting birds, identifying species and interpreting bird behaviour in a range of London habitats. The sites for the fieldtrips with be confirmed at the first session but all will be accessible by public transport.
This is a great time of year to look for birds as species which migrate to the UK for the winter are now arriving. We may spot winter thrushes or migratory ducks in addition to resident species.
Brenna Boyle (B.Sc Hons Dunelm, M.Sc DIC) is a zoologist, wildlife guide and environmental teacher. She runs
Wild Capital; London's wildlife discovery service and also works for two urban environmental education charities.
