Course programme

Course Content

On this full time, 2-year course you are allocated a Personal Development Tutor to provide personal support and advice. You follow an extended academic year which is split into two semesters over 45 weeks.

The programme embraces flexible delivery systems in order to meet learner and employer needs, making use of online as well as face-to-face methods to offer a friendly, student-centred approach which puts your needs at the heart of its ethos.

A broad and varied range of delivery methods are embraced, and learning is therefore facilitated by the flexible use of one or more of the following in each module: Lectures; tutorials; group tasks including group study; group discussion; directed tasks and independent study; reflection on own workplace practice; preparation for and analysis of project work. We have found that our flexible teaching strategy, together with our friendly student support approaches, are effective in supporting personalised learning and building self-confidence.

Independent, self-directed study increases in importance as the course progresses and includes the use of blended learning strategies. Effective use is made of the online learning environment (VLE) to facilitate the setting of learning tasks and assessment as well as enabling effective reflection and communication (between tutors and students and with other students) via email. Content for the first module includes induction of students to these less traditional methods of learning.
